Did a "promo" drawing for my upcoming trip to home to Ottawa with my lady. This will be her introduction to half of my family, and it will be both of our introductions to my new niece. Can't wait!
I kept this simple and loose because I'm still having a tough time getting my desired control with the tablet, plus my drawing's rusty.

Short Idea
Oh! Hello.
I'm always coming up with story ideas that I get excited about, but never follow-through on them. I've come up with a theory about wasted ideas: If you get struck with inspiration and a story idea comes to you, you must get it out of you as fast as possible, if not, it will begin to rot and it may damage other ideas or you even.
So in an effort to fix what damage I have already sustained and to prevent any further damage, I'm chipping away at the pile of unused ideas I've accumulated over the years.
Here's a concept sketch of the short animated film I am working on. This sketch is based on a panel from my first board pass. I have only a vague idea of what the design style will be for this short, but I know what I want to happen, so hopefully I'll find the look as I play around with story sketches.
This was all done on my bamboo fun tablet. I'm having a very hard time with subtleties such as fine details and line weight thanks to the disconnect of hand and eye while using a tablet. I'm sure I'll get better with practice, but to save myself some frustration, I think I'll spend a little more time doing traditional drawings from now on.

Fun with Bamboo
Hello.
It's been a while since my last update, I'm hoping the next one won't take so long.
I've finally got myself a nice powerful computer at home with the internet and a new tablet. I picked up the Bamboo Fun because it's the only tablet in the Bamboo line that isn't super small (it's about the size of the second smallest Intuos tablet) and it's about half the price of an Intuos tablet. Of course its sensitivity is about half that of the Intuos line, but at that cost, it's good enough for me.
So here are two drawings I did tonight as I'm getting more accustomed to this tablet. Two of my favourite Japanese actors:
Chiaki Minoru. Drawn from a still from Rashomon.
Asano Tadanobu. Drawn from a photo.
I'm working on a comic about four Japanese characters and I'm basing two of them on these guys.
Later!

Demo Reel Update!
Hey gang, another year's gone by without a post. Well, here's an updated demo reel I did this weekend. I'm working on some drawing stuff right now. Comics, storyboards. So I should have some drawings to post soon.
These are what I feel are my best scenes from my television animation career, featuring such productions as Nelvana's Ruby Gloom, Dreamworks/Fox's Neighbors From Hell, and Big Bad Boo Studio's Mixed Nutz.

Some more animation
Hey, so I've been trying to get my portfolio together for a while now. Unfortunately, my last studio won't release our scenes to us, so I'm stuck with just two episodes to work with. Thankfully, one is the Halloween episode, which has my fingerprints all over it. I'd like to be able to post some of the hockey episode, because I think that's my other strongest episode, but this is the best I can do for now.

Holy crap! I'm still alive!
Hey, there. It's been an unforgivably long time since I posted those bus transfer life drawing poses. But I'm determined to keep on with art and this blog, despite not having a computer of my own, no internet on my roommate's computer (where I scan my drawings). So I'll be cobbling together my post using multiple computers until I can get my own and hook up some internet.
Adversity just steels my dedication!
so today I'll post some development sketches for various projects I'm working on as well as some random doodles. Nothing close to finished products, but hopefully hints and whispers of things to come.
above is a break down of a comic I'm working on. If you can figure out what's happening, you get a star. I stuck with pretty simple thumbnails just to nail down the pacing and the composition. At the bottom are a couple doodles of cover concepts, these ones being particularly cliched.
Here is an early style guide for the comic. Inky. Dark. Black and white. no gray. A little better attempt at a cover, but still rather cliched.
This here's the main antagonist of said comic.
Now for my other comic:
another break down.
Of course our super awesome protagonist has only a couple of design sketches so far. I'm having trouble capturing his wicked coolness.
One of his colleagues:
And another friend/complication to our hero's life:
and some designs for semi-recurrent characters:
I'm leaving all the characters and projects unlabeled for now because these projects are still in the early stages and I don't want to show all my cards until it's closer to completion. Not to mention a couple of things/characters are yet to be named.
Also, I've just updated my Ruby Gloom reel and it's been posted on Youtube.

This will have to do until Big Bad Boo releases the work I did for them on Mixed Nutz last year.
Thanks,
see you soon.
